KEY INITIATIVES
Education
Brian is dedicated to ensuring that every child in Lakewood has access to a high-quality education by working closely with the school board, educators, parents, and the community. Most importantly he supports keeping our 7 Neighborhood Elementary Schools open ensuring first-rate public education for every Lakewood child.
Diversity and Inclusion
Embracing diversity is at the heart of Brian's vision for Lakewood. By fostering an inclusive environment and promoting cultural understanding, Brian seeks to celebrate the rich tapestry of backgrounds and experiences within the community. This includes honoring residents of all ages, races, religions, socioeconomic levels, abilities, and sexual and gender identities, ensuring that every Lakewood resident feels valued, heard, and respected.
Standing with Workers
My commitment to workers' rights and fair labor practices runs deep. Growing up, I was profoundly shaped by my family's blue-collar roots: my father and grandfather were both proud 407 Teamsters, and my dad served as a dedicated union steward. This instilled in me the unwavering belief in the power of collective bargaining, the importance of protecting members' rights, and ensuring that all employees receive fair treatment. These are the principles that stand true for all working class residents in Lakewood. I am proud to be endorsed by the Cleveland Building & Construction Trades Council and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #25.
Safe, Accessible and Affordable Housing
We must continue to attract and retain residents by ensuring a diverse range of housing options that are genuinely affordable and sustainable for all income levels. This includes thoughtfully considering multi-family units, accessible housing, and preserving our historic housing stock. Development decisions should not happen in a vacuum. Brian will advocate for robust community input and transparent processes to ensure that new housing complements existing neighborhoods and meet the actual needs of our residents.
Strategic Development
Our existing small businesses are the backbone of Lakewood. We need to actively support their growth and retention through streamlined processes, access to resources, and fostering an environment where they can thrive, creating local jobs.
Lakewood Parks and Environment
Preserving and protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. Brian will champion efforts to promote environmental sustainability, invest in green infrastructure, and work towards creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for Lakewood. Maximizing Lakewood's unique assets, our lakefront, public parks, diverse neighborhoods, and strong school system to attract businesses that value community, sustainability, and a high quality of life.
